FireSteel Bunker

Bought this firesteel a week ago for a camping trip I just finished up. Thought about getting one of the cheaper Light My Fire ferro rods but went with this guy after hearing great things about Firesteel.com rods. Mostly from Joe Robinet. I was not disappointed. This thing throws sparks like a flame thrower. And the size of it makes it super easy to handle. Firesteel.com has won me over. No other ferro rod brands after this. Great job guys!

I own a lot of different " firesteels". Anytime I pick up another brand I end up comparing them against the standard in firesteels - FireSteel.com. More and more I am liking this 1/2" Bunker size as it seems the bigger the steel, the bigger the spark. It's more to carry, but the safety of a bigger, even easier spark is often worth it to me. I bought the Firesteel bunker 6, magnesium rod and super scraper. When my order came in, the first thing I wanted to do was to try everything out. I went outside in the back yard and gave it a shot. I used a cotton ball with vaseline and sent some sparks flying, it caught instantly. I then scraped some magnesium on some crumpled paper,same results.I couldn't be happier. I spend a lot of time in the bush, so this will definitely go into my packsack. Thanks for such great products.

The black stuff rubs off on your hands and clothes, but it washes off easily.

Man does this thing shoot sparks! Tested it on some cedar bark with very little preparation and it worked no problem. Felt like I should be wearing a welding helmet with the brightness of this thing. My new go to fire steel.

Well, I have used Firesteel.com for several years, and like their other products, this BUNKER rod throws massive amounts of HOT sparks. No problem lighting a Vaseline cotton ball with 1 strike. Outstanding !!!
