    not just hype

Posted by John Smith on Dec 6th 2013

There's a reason there are so many great reviews on these firesteels. I heard about these a while back and wanted to try them and since getting a few and starting fires I have to say I will not be going back to other brands. The bunker is what I'm reviewing but I bought others such as the mini (it fits great in a wallet as does the pup). They're all made out of the same great quality it just depends on the size you want. I like this bunker its pretty big (bigger than the pictures dictate), in conjunction with the scrapper it does great. I highly recommend these firesteels and the service is great as well.

    This one will LAST!

Posted by Adam on Nov 6th 2013

WOW! What else can I say? This thing is a beast. I don't know if I will ever be able to use this one up. With a proper striker this thing throws a shower of sparks the likes of which I have never seen. The hole is perfectly drilled, and fits standard 550 cord perfectly. With the speed of the shipping and the quality of this product, I will become a repeat customer!

    One of the BEAST!

    Posted by ous216 on Nov 1st 2013

This thing is huge! It's make me feel secure if the power ever go out for a long term. I like the fact that there is already a hole for the lanyard so I don't have to do anything to it, or wasted the part that I have to make the handle to it, in this way I can use the whole thing. I would get a few more just in case. Highly recommended.

    Best fire tool ever!

Posted by Ron on Nov 1st 2013

This baby sparks with delight and vigor. Works best when using the back of a high carbon steel knife but any good striker will work. This is the best I have ever used and going to have a sheath made just to make sure I always have this one with me.EXCELLENT!!!!

    Great firestarter

Posted by JD on Oct 1st 2013

At first I had my doubts. It seems that the first few strikes may not work so well maybe because of the coating it initially comes with or maybe it took me a couple learning tries. However, now that I have been using it more, it is throws lots of spark and works very very well. I got the .5" by 5" so I hope to be using this for an extremely long time too. I am very satisfied with my purchase Note from FireSteel.com - our firesteels come with a thin protective coating. Typically it takes a couple of scrapes to remove this coating, after which the sparks will fly!

Need to survive armageddon? One of these will be essential.

You could light literally millions of fires with one of the Bunker sized FireSteel.com rods, and still have a few match-sized left. These are must-haves for any survival kit or other outdoor equipment pack you are building.

    Truly Amazing.

I bought this with an extra super scraper. This gear is honestly the best I have ever found. Nice camo paracord lanyard, and I am massively happy with this purchase.

Best Fire steel on the Market

Posted by Mike on Aug 7th 2013

I have a few of these fire starters and in my opinion this is my best one. I believe in the KISS system (Keep It Simple Stupid) it's nothing fancy but it works like a champ. The extra bulk this has with the length is just what I needed to carry with my Leatherman Surge, combined with the maxpedition sheath and my Fenix light on the other side this system is just what you need for the basics.
