This thing throws really good sparks! The trick is to support it with your finger and draw it backwards against the striker. The tinder should be on the back side of the striker. Practice a few times and as long as you are using decent tinder, it works every time, easily. I bought these because they fit (with some length trimming) in a Swiss Army Knife corkscrew PERFECTLY. Also appreciate the eco-respect the company shows in their packaging. These are good people with a great product line.
