My favorite firesteel size
Small enough to be light and comfortable in a pocket, large enough to use with cold hands. With an orange paracord lanyard a small wrap of orange duct tape for a handle you aren't likely to lose it in the leaves. Easily ignites natural tinders like birch bark, beech leaves, pine needles, etc.

awsome product
I recently purchased a 3/8 by 4 inch fire steel from here. I decided to test it using birch bark wich is a natural good fire starter. After about 6 strikes thats including removing the black coating off the steel it caught fire and stayed burning. Was very happy with the amount of sparks produced and how fast the birch caught fire. Love the product great work.

Extremely Pleased
I am extremely pleased with your product! I carefully removed the black coating as you advise and was able to start a fire on the FIRST try using clothes dryer lint. I subsequently started several other fires using material from the back yard with no problem. I shall be back later for more of your products.

Great for Bushcraft
As a full time bushcraft knifemaker, I often get requests for a firesteel matching the handle material of the knife. These are what I use now, and they're quite ideal to go on the side of a sheath in a firesteel loop. It is also a good size for a necklace. And of course the 3/8" diameter allows for longevity & large sparks which rarely fail to ignite your tinder in the first flash.

My Choice in a Fire Steel
I know Ron has written in some of his articles that he prefers the Survival fire steel as his every day carry. I like the one that is one size larger, the armageddon fire steel. What is another fraction of an ounce in weight compared to this bigger size that makes MASSIVE sparks? This firesteel still easily fits in my backpack and I am getting another one for my car in case I break down. THANK YOU RON for a great survival website and keep up the good work!!

Darn you Ron !!!!!
You've made a superior product at inferior pricing! Why do other manufactures charge so much for something that doesn't work as well as your firesteels? That's an answer I'd like to know. Buy your firesteels here; Save your life & save some money doing it. Thanks Ron!

FIRESTEEL RULES!
I received my FIRESTEEL Armageddon and I am impressed! I bought a similar setup from a major retail store and FIRESTEEL puts it to shame! Ron was also kind enough to put a FIRESTEEL SCRAPER in there to boot!!! I can't wait to go camping.

Best FireSteels I've Ever Used
Got ten of these firesteels today and distributed them to my Scout Troop. I have to say this: WOW! Ron is right when he says these give "big beefy sparks that dance and pop". Get these firesteels you will be glad you did!
