    First-Class Pup Ferro Rod

Posted by D. Scribner on Oct 19th 2016

I always purchase all the ferro and magnesium rods I use, or give as gifts, from from FireSteel (and have for many years). I will say that I can't think I've every used a ferro rod that has thrown more hot sparks per strike, or been more enjoyable to use or teach others with, than these. However, high quality ferrocerium and magnesium rods are only a *part* of what you get when you deal with FireSteel. I don't think I have ever received such personal, first-class customer service from any other company I've ever dealt with, and THAT is the reason that keeps me coming back!! Thank you!

    Will serve my purposes

Posted by Don on Oct 4th 2016

I bought the smaller fire steel because I have a larger family and I have to consider price when putting a kit together for five or more people. Haven't tested them in the field yet but they appear to have a great deal more spark than other fire steels. The shipping was amazingly fast. They arrived at my mailbox less than 48 hours after i submitted my order. I couldn't be happier and will make all my purchases here from now on

    Perfect for an Altoids tin!

Posted by Gregory Turner on Apr 12th 2016

I have several firesteels and think they are great. I bought the 3" Firesteel PUPS to carry in my Altoids tin emergency kit. The are small enough in diameter and short enough that they fit perfectly and take very little space. And the 3" length provides a secure grip.

    Great for the emergency kit

I use these for backup kits placed in a snuff tin with a small lighter, char cloth and a "fire straw" with dryer lint.

    Have FireSteel.com will travel

Posted by John E. Roberts on Jun 5th 2014

The confidence of being able to have a fire relieves a great deal of stress when faced with an unexpected stay in the back country......especially in inclimate weather. These firesteels provide that confidence. The time saved in producing a comforting fire can go towards other life saving activities. I sincerely appreciate the care that this company takes in producing a quality, trustworthy piece of equipment. Best Regards John in Absoroka Mtns. S.W. Montana
