    Great Steels!

Posted by Rob Babcock on May 1st 2020

This is at least the 5th or 6th order I've made from Firesteel.com and not my last. They're simply fantastic steels! They produce good hot sparks and are large enough to make a good amount of fires. I use the Pup Steels for my backup fire kits; in that role they excel. They're small enough to fit into any of my various match cases yet large enough to be easy to use. Lastly the service is always outstanding!

    Big enough

Posted by Mark Ball on Jan 7th 2020

This little firesteel works great and is big enough to get the job done. Bigger is usually better for starting a fire but remember you have to carry everything with you in the woods. This is a light weight effective very usable size.

I have been practicing with my firesteel magnisum bar with wax paper .The fine shavings on the wax paper lights fast with few strikes from the pup ferro rod so far real great no problems. Tom

Great little firesteel but little is the keyword. I bought 2 Armageddon’s as well. Small edc or emergency steel. You can’t go wrong with the price. Overall a good buy

Big Results in a Little Package

Posted by Jawfish on Jan 7th 2018

I bought the 2" rods for use in our EDC kits (altoid regular and smalls) and thought they would make a great "emergency" rod. I like to try whatever I purchase so I know they will work when and if the time comes. WOW! Two inches is small and these are the blanks with no holes or grip. You would think that these would be difficult to use. Not the case. I tried it with and without magnesium (also bought from FireSteel.com) and both times had a fire in 1-2 strikes. These little guys strike easily and throw hot, large sparks. Very happy with these and they fit nicely even in the smalls altoid tins.

    WOW

Posted by John on Dec 5th 2017

For such a small rod. WOW! ordered these for x-mas gifts, mounted these in small pieces of antler and started making fire kits. used one rod for all my testing of cotton balls and cotton rounds, fatwood and char cloth. I used it for at least 200 strikes and still have at least 7/8 rod left .. I must say best 1.97 I ever spent , liked them so much I turned around and ordered more and included the embers to try, I'm sure ill like them also. Thank you to Ron and his family.
