    MEGA SPARKS!

Posted by John Nelson on Jul 29th 2015

I have had several ferro rods.....but WOW!..This thing puts them all to shame. I had a light my fire that I have used for years and loved it. This new ferro rod blows it out of the water. It's easy to strike, lots and I mean lots of sparks. It seems to catch what i,considered very marginal material on fire very easy. This will be attached to my esee LS and I will order another for my haversack and my nephew.....A TRULY REMARKABLE PRODUCT THAT YOU CAN HAVE FAITH in!

    What a beast!!!

Posted by Bob Rynes on Jul 15th 2015

After using small cheap ferry rods for years, I figured it's time to buy a real one. This thing is nice and big in your hand and it throws a massive amount of sparks. After cleaning off the coating, 3 strikes started my bird nest and one strike on cotton balls with Vaseline. Not bad for a new tool, I'm sure with a little practice it will do anything in one strike.

A great addition to your fire kit, you will love this fire steel

Posted by Harry Swank on Jun 6th 2015

This fire steel throws out the most sparks of any fire steel I have ever owned in my life. If you can't start a fire with this fire rod then you better stay home in front of your television period.

    Very good fire steel

Posted by Unknown on May 28th 2015

These are very good fire rods that throw a lot of sparks to make a fire easily provided you have the right fire tender. Tip: If you somehow end up without a fire rod striker you can break a rock by using another rock to bash the rock against it until you have a rock with a sharp edge and then use the sharp edge of that rock to strike your fire rod.

    Amazing firestarter.

Posted by Harry on Apr 15th 2015

I was researching fire starting tools and came across a blog that mentioned getting the biggest ferro rod you could fit in your kit. I never even thought ferro rods came in sizes, as I have always used the Boy Scout branded fire starter. It's tiny, but it has never failed to light a fire. However, it is difficult for younger or weaker people to use efficiently. when I read "go big" I looked around for bigger rods and found Firesteel.com. I ordered a Bunker; go big, right? After a super-fast arrival this beast was in hand. I am impressed with the heft, and the abundance of sparks it throws. Had no problem throwing sparks with our new Bunker. Now he wants his own Bunker. After he came back from trying it out, his eyes were alight with knowledge that it was something he can use if he needs to. Great product!

Have seen many review and videos of this ferro rod and have to say having in hand does not compare. This is a spark throwing beast! I was surprised how bright and intense the sparks were. Highly recommend. Will be buying more.

    High Quality Ferrocerium Rod

Posted by Unknown on Mar 19th 2015

I have always carried some form of flint/steel or ferrocerium as part of my wilderness kit. I have tested this Firesteel 5" many times since purchase using natural tinders & carbon-steel knife in various weather conditions & it is producing enough high tempertature sparks to ignite even in a damp environment. As well, it would appear to be going to last for a long time even with daily use. This is the best ferrocerium I have come across & aside from seeming very easy to use regularly under normal conditions with good tinder, I feel I also have a high quality tool to handle emergency scenarios. Lighters & matches are not always reliable in certain weather. Although I carry several mechanisms for fire starting when I go out, the Firesteel will likely be the number one choice in certain emergencies as I know it will be reliable in situations where I am in bad weather & may be under stress & since it can ignite many natural fiber tinders if necessary. Lastly, it's compact enough to carry in your survival kit so it's with you at all times. Very good product. I will likely be buying more as backup & for family to carry. For me, less than 5" might be a little less effective. Longer would be fine but then you may be starting to get into the portability tradeoff.
