    Best firesteel bar none!

Posted by Yooper on Mar 3rd 2013

Whenever I'm out in the woods during the winter I always have 2 things with me. This firesteel with a striker around my neck. And my Scandinavian forest axe. This firesteel has never let me down when starting a fire. Even with heavy use for the last 8 months it barely shows any wear. This is a great firesteel and well worth the few extra dollars to add the lanyard hole.

    Very impressive Fire Steel tool

Posted by Dennis on Jan 11th 2013

Thank You FireSteel.com, Job Well Done. I really like the size of the Bunker, it has a real nice solid feel to it and is able to produce a lot of sparks, even for someone who has never had any experience with a fire steel before. As this is my first experience with a fire steel, I wanted to verify the ability to start a fire as easily as with a match or lighter. I was Very surprised at the ease of starting two fires with the Bunker fire steel. One with a cotton ball and bees wax, the other with a cotton ball and petroleum jelly, both started with no problem, which at the time I was outside in about a 20 plus mile per hour wind and the temperature - mid teens with snow on the ground, in other words very cold and windy. I tried matches and the lighter. Both failed in the wind, but the Bunker performed and got the cotton balls started. Very Impressed! I no longer need to carry matches or a lighter with the Bunker Fire Steel. The matches/lighter Do Not work well at all in Winds. With the ease of making a fire in any condition since I been using it the Bunker Fire Steel, will be my only fire starting/carry tool now both at home and/or in the field. Thank You for a very impressive Fire Steel tool.

    "Replacement" back-up?? yeah Right!!

Posted by Mark from Marietta S.C. on Dec 8th 2012

I bought this as "back-up" blank rod for my Deluxe Bunker Firesteel Tube, or at least for the "steel" part. These Firesteels throw such a fit of screaming mutant lava-like sparks, its like they're "mad as hell going somewhere to happen" When you scrape a Firesteel Ferro Rod with some decent authoritative pressure...well...thats one of the few times you'll screw a cap back on the front door of Hades and live to tell about it

    Awesome firestarter

First of all this thing is big, enough for year after year of fires. The lanyard hole is a nice addition. A must have for any outdoor enthusiast.

Ordered one to try...ordered a second one for a back-up after working with the first one in the field. Absolutely great survival fire starter! Between the Firesteel and petroleum jelly smeared cotton balls I don't even bother with a lighter.
