    Best of the best!

Posted by Unknown on Apr 25th 2018

This is the best for steel I've ever used. It throws massive sparks every time, with the firesteel striker which is shaped perfectly. Very fast shipping, and extremely good and fast customer service. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a good firesteel.

    I Felt Like Zeus

I have plenty of ferro rods, still do, and all work to some extent, even the cheap chinese made ones. I expected a lot more from this company, and boy did i get it! It came fast and easy, and very reasonably price, I'd even say inexpensive. After scraping off the coating, and then using the included scraper, also a MUST buy, i was throwing sparks across my driveway, lighting the night. Some even burned so long and hot that they hit the ground after a 4 foot drop and continued to burn. This steel is like no other. I have had made damp feather sticks ignite like seasoned fat wood shavings. I'm definitely buying again. Beyond impressed, and dollar to fires started, this is going to end up being a small percentage of a penny for each fire lit. Don't buy cheap chinese ferro rods anymore, or expensive Swedish ones, buy an inexpensive, American made product that will pretty much guarantees you a fire every time if your skills are up to it.

    Awesome for making fire!

Posted by Dr. David R. Smythe on Apr 9th 2018

I I originally bought two of these (1/4 X 3) with two strikers and have not been disappointed. I gave one to a friend of mine and he loves it too. I have used one of my original purchases exclusively and have not had an issues with this and it seems I cannot wear it down like what happened when I bought a cheaper version. I bought five of the 3/8 X 3 firesteels and strikers so I am prepared for a long, long time with regard to striking a fire. If you cannot start a fire with these you are either under water or could not start a fire with a gallon of gasoline and a blow torch. I highly recommend these.

    Great fire steel

Posted by Michael on Apr 7th 2018

I bought one of these to add to one of my survival knife set ups. It throws more sparks than any other steel I have ever used and can tell you compared to other fire steels I have this one is no joke......... except for one small detail......the Lynard hole that they claim to carefully drill centered is not centered at all. It is offset and I would be afraid to use it to secure it as it may break. Kinda ruins the extra I paid for the hole. Would have given 5 stars and probably have ordered 6 more already for all my knives if not for this. I gotta run this through the test to see how strong the offset drilled hole holds up.....and maybe it will surprise me.

    Always have one

This is my 3rd order with firesteel.com, what a great company to do business with! I wanted this one to put a paracord loop on so I could wear it around my neck or tie it to my fixed blade knife. The best firesteels, and huge sparks!

    Very good, but messy!

Posted by Unknown on Jan 26th 2018

The firesteel arrived in about three business days after the order, which is a very acceptable turn around time. I like that there were suggestions on how to use it and get the most out of it. There was an explanation as to the packaging and why minimal packaging was important to the company. Then, I grabbed the firesteel in my hand and realized there was a coating of sorts on it, as my hand turned black. I am not sure why the coating is on it...anti corrosion? The coating has to be scraped off for the firesteel to be effective. That is my only complaint. Getting the coating off is a process and messy at that as your hand will turn a tacky black. I suppose if you do it with a glove on, it would be nearly impossible to get the coating off the glove and everything you touch from that point on would have a oily black imprint. Other than that, once you can get to the silver part of the steel and strike it, the sparks are intense and bright. I lit the instructions on fire with no problem. I love it...just wish the coating wasn't necessary.
