    First Firesteel product I've bought

Posted by Gregory Barnier on Jan 12th 2015

I have never used this type of fire starter before. However, I tried it out with a striker purchased here and it did make a a good bunch of sparks, It comes coated in black and you have to abrade off the black to get to the steel but the striker does that job for you. I attached the striker and the steel to a cord through the lanyard holes and it looks like a good, compact emergency fire starting kit. For the price, especially, everyone should have this, or similar, in their kit. Fast service.

    Hot starter!

Top fast service. Perfect size for the old BOB, & having a Layard hole is a big plus! If you can't throw sparks with this look at your technique & try again. I'll be getting some more from these good people.

Though the weather has kept me from testing, the videos I've seen make me happy I got one. Nice neat hole for a cord. Gonna test next hike

    A Big Hit

Gave these out as gifts. They were well received. So excited to try out, that we started a fire in the chiminea . Wet and damp and lit right up. Great products that shower sparks!

    Great.

Throws a ton of sparks. I plan on using the base off some old antlers I have for grips. The shipping was wonderful, literally 3 hours after I placed my order I received an email stating my rods had been processed and were labeled shipped (I ordered these on a Sunday). Would recommend FireSteel.com to anyone and I will be a return customer.

    I highly recommend this product

Posted by Vedrfolnir on Nov 28th 2014

I've used firesteels exclusively for years. These firesteels have replaced all the butane lighters in all my camping gear. The firesteels always work - Year after year. They never leak out. They are limited only by your tinder. They are particularly superb for lighting my coleman stove, or my MS-multifuel, or char-cloth. One strike; fire. I do prefer using the FireSteel Scraper - more than adequate, and using the back of your camp-knife is sometimes awkward. A single 8" lanyard between the firesteel and scraper ensure the two are always together. I highly recommend this product -- I will buy again.

    3/8x5" firesteel

Posted by Jim on Nov 23rd 2014

Nice firesteel, long enough to use, short enough to carry. I ordered this one after losing my 1/2 one which was heavy to carry. Thanks for the quick shipping, and a good value for the money product.
