FireSteel Ranger

I have been using these rods for about two years now. I have remote property that my family and I are at every weekend throughout the summer. We are constantly building a fire in the woodstove, outside, or lighting a cook stove. The FireSteel is the only thing I use anymore. I have gone through about twenty of these due to friends and family wanting one once they see how easy it is to use. Both of my kids (8 and 10) use these rods for building fires. For tender I generally use cotton balls with petroleum jelly, but have also used birch bark, grass, and diesel. I'm ordering more today...

A well-used Ranger model and striker reside in my pocket full time and you wouldn't believe how often I use it. Lighting fire pit and fireplace fires, campstoves, my outdoor burner for beermaking, and even my home gas stove when the electricity went out. These are by far the best firesteels I've used-- much better than either the Swedish model ($$$) or the misch metal/magnesium bar combos. Add a homemade carved wood handle and they are great gifts for outdoorspeople Also, let me say that this is the best internet company I've ever ordered from! this is almost the right size to refill your UST sparkie!!! all you need to do is to cut it to length with a hacksaw and pop out the old with a knife! then just pop the new one back in!!!

I tent camped in the Yukon this summer for two months and we built a campfire almost every night. My "ranger" firesteel built many, many fires and worked every time in all kinds of conditions. Extremely reliable. This product WORKS! What more can you say or want?

Fantastic product far superior to my cheapo chinese made one I bought. Combined with the Super Striker this Firesteel throws off some wicked sparks. I can't wait to field test these bad boys. I bought firesteels from Firesteel.com for a couple years. Give them to all my friends and for holiday gifts. They all love them! I like the ranger and the 3/8inch x 4 inch armageddon sizes the best, but all firesteel.com firesteels are easy to use.
