Bought these to put in little fire kits. For the minimal space they take up, they are well worth it. Quality is awesome as you would expect from firesteel.com.

I bought this along with the smaller Micro and the larger Miniature, the Tiny is as thin as you want to go if you want to glue a rod to a piece of your gear for emergency use that will go unnoticed by you, it is virtually weightless and has no bulk.

These work great. Yes small but work perfectly. So small I just throw in small Baggie with cotton balls and have great fire kit. It worked this weekend when my Bic was too cold to get my alcohol stove lit.

Here's how I made a foolproof lighter: take a tiny firesteel and superglue it to a small bic lighter. The small bic lighter is exactly the same length as the tiny firesteel (2 inches). I took a rubber band and mounted the firesteel to the narrow, long side of the lighter (not the side where you flick the bic into flame). Then I applied superglue to each side. No need to over do it with the glue, it takes it very well. Let it dry thoroughly, remove the rubber band and you're in business. The case of the bic provides all the backing you need. You can really bear down on it and get good sparks despite the tiny size. I use these for the small survival kits I sell. It's very popular.

I always take my shoelaces and replace them with paracord. I wanted to do something a little extra, so I ordered a bunch of these 1/8th inch rods. I cut paracord to length, cut each rod in half and inserted half in each end of the paracord sheath, melted to fit, and used some Gorilla Glue to hold. I did some tests striking with various pieces of metal I typically have on me, and for being such small rods they put out a surprisingly good shower of sparks. Very satisfied.

I took a 1/4 inch wooden dowel and put a small groove in it. Then I used E6000 to glue the Tiny to it. It's small and super lightweight. The extra thickness of the wooden dowel makes it easier to hold on to. Great for a survival kit.

This is awesome for survival kits, small and it still works like a charm. I would recommend this to others, and I will be buying more in the future.
