    Happy fire maker

Posted by paul lewis on Apr 14th 2016

The people at fire steel are a bunch of geniuses.. Saving them and the customer a lot of money on packaging as they use the instructions and packing slip. That's the way to go green. The website is easy too manage and the shipping was very fast. Ok with that out of the way on to the product. These fire steels throw sparks like none other. I was showing a customer how well they work and burnt splatter marks in our display case glass. They are hard I expect them to last a very long time but not so hard that it's impossible to get good spark. Anyway I love them and would recommend too anybody that wants to start a fire.

    Great Company, Great product

Posted by Shawn S on Mar 20th 2016

I ordered 3 of these as well as a Magnessium rod and I just received them today. Not only did I get exactly what I ordered but I received a handwritten note from someone named Ron. He threw in an extra beefeier rod as well as a striker for free. I will absolutely be purchasing from you guys again. Oh btw..the rod puts out a massive amount of sparks. Thanks Guys, Shawn.

The Right Steel for the Maxpedition Fatty

Posted by Ratpackis on Mar 3rd 2016

Bought this steel along with the 3/8 x 5 magnesium rod for my Maxpedition Fatty EDC. They're a perfect fit for the pen/pencil slot bands. I have a bag of 30 zip-ties in the band behind them, making for a snug fit with zero slippage. Big advantage to the 6 inch length is you can get a solid grip without needing to make a handle; I have other steels that are half inch diameter, but much shorter, meaning I need to add a handle to get the leverage I need for a good spark. I look at it this way: for under $20, I have a steel and a magnesium rod that are built just the way they need to be built for an EDC. That's a "can't miss", and it allows you to double down on your fire-starting with a MagSlab while still being under $25.

    Didn't know there was difference.....but

Posted by Kirk in Missouri on Nov 29th 2015

I suppose I'm not educated on "firesteels", cause I thought they were all the same as I have a couple different ones. But needing a couple more for BOB's, I did some searching and found Firesteels.com. All reviews look great......so I ordered them. Well, compared to the steels I already have, there's no contest. These steels fro. fIresteels.com are hot, hot, hot. They instantly started a pile of leaves I had outside. And a dry newspaper.....HA! They are great and of course I highly recommend.

    Simple well made

Basic fire steel that is well made and throws a lot of hot sparks. I can usually start a fire by the second scrape.
