Should be slipped into every knife sheath

Posted by Dave L. on Jun 27th 2012

Two pieces of bicycle inner tube and one of these make a perfect addition to any knife sheath. Slip the inner tube over the sheath, then the second piece of inner tube over that. Slide the firesteel in between, and it will hold it in place. Perfect for emergency fire starting.

    A must have for everyone!

Posted by David Culver on Apr 27th 2011

I have had this little guy for over a year now and I have started hundreds of fires with the same one. It continues to give me all the sparks I need to light any tinder that I put in front of it. I wear this little guy around my neck everyday and I do not leave home without it. A must for everyone to have.

This little guy is all you really need.

Posted by Jake McCoy on Apr 27th 2011

You can get a larger rod, but this little guy is all you really need. I know because I also have the Armaggedon. Yes, a larger rod is easier to use, but this Pup can be packed almost anywhere. I packed a pup in a small waterproof capsule that also contains tinder (cotton ball with petroleum jelly). I carry the scraper on the outside. The whole setup costs less than $6. Side note, the shipping is fast and packaging is great.

Pup Firesteel Rod good for small survival kit

Small but handy firesteel for making fire in an emergency. As Jebby writes, it throws very hot sparks even though it is a small firesteel

Agree - Nice FireSteel for the Keyring

Posted by Loves the Outdoors on Apr 27th 2011

You have an outstanding good and well structured site. I enjoyed browsing through it. Last week I purchased one of your FireSteel Pup Tubes for my keyring, which I carry everywhere. Easy to start a fire with this device, once you learn how - a few scrapes and the sparks fly! Now I know I can always start a fire when I need one no matter what. 5 thumbs up!

I needed a small but good quality firesteel for a mini survival kit I was making. Bought this 3/16ths inch firesteel and am not disappointed - this thing throws really good sparks for its size! 5 stars
