    Exceeded my expectations

Posted by Julius on Sep 18th 2011

After receiving my Fire Steel a couple of days ago, I decided to test it out for the first time in the presence of a skeptical co-worker. I set the Fire Steel down on a metal work bench next to my tinder (Petroleum Jelly infused cotton ball in one pile, drier lint in another), and turned my back to wipe my hands. Before I could turn back to the "experiment", my no longer skeptical co-worker had ignited BOTH stacks of tinder! This without any prompting or prior instruction. Needless to say, he immediately ordered his own Fire Steel.

Posted by Wilson on May 23rd 2011

I just wanted to say thank you. and tell you how impressed I am with the firesteel.com armagedon. I have owned firesteels in the past that I thought was good. But the armagedon puts them to shame. I'm 46 yrs old and have alot of experience in this sort of thing. anyway, thank you again.

    Much Better

    Posted by Weld387 on May 21st 2011

I heat my home with a wood burning stove. So there was no time wasted in trying out my FireSteel Armageddon set. It truly works five times better then another well known brand steel I was using. Had the fire going with about four good swipes on the FireSteel rod. Did not even need the magnesium rod. I will be carrying this fire steel hunting, backpacking, camping for sure. It is a essential part of gear. The firesteel striker piece of metal is the key for how this set works so well. The para cord is tough. Had too tie a better knot and melt it a little. This was done so it would not come undone.

The Surefire Way to Get a Fire Started

Posted by Scott Harrison on May 21st 2011

It's about time I finally put in my humble review. I buy my 550 cord, fatwood, bought a whistle and compass from this site, but the primary reason I have this bookmarked is right here - the FireSteel and Magnesium set. I have one hanging over the fireplace (a lot more fun that using matches), in my EDC pack, and in my Jeep. It's the surefire way to always get a fire started, no doubt. The best way I've found: Stabilize the FireSteel rod upright and scrape (doesn't need to be a fast strike) straight down for a shower of hot sparks. The best source for FireSteels!

    Fire Within Seconds

Posted by Paul on May 21st 2011

I just got my firesteel in the mail. I opened the package and took a few light strokes of the steel to get some of the coating off. Within seconds I had hot showers of sparks falling on the garage floor. This is a great product. Now that it's the wet season here in BC I'm going to give it a try in the woods then I'm going to take it hiking in Moab.

I have one of those so called fire starters, without naming names, the one that has a red little handle, gives out sparks but nothing andI mean nothing compared to this fire steel! My family counts on me coming home safe from a survival trip, camping, fishing, hunting and what ever else trip i go on, and with this product i have no worries about doing just that, thanks FireSteel.com for making a awesome product!

    Very Easy to Use

Posted by G. A. in California on May 21st 2011

The first thing I did when I got it in the mail was try it. I knew the basic principle and attempted before reading the instructions. I scraped off a small amount of magnesium and attempted to spark it off, but I wasn't getting a spark of the firesteel. I then read the instructions and realized the black coating needed to be scraped off first, duh, lol. So I scraped it off and got some very impressive sparks once I got the coating off. I started the magnesium with minimal effort and put some tinder on it. I had a little fire going very quickly. I have never attempted to do this before and I had a fire going in less than 5 minutes. Awesome product! Thank you.

thank you for a great product

Posted by TT on May 21st 2011

Just wanted to send you a note and thank you for a great product. Within 20 minutes of opening my firesteel all four of my children ages 14, 12, 10, and 8 had all started a fire using your product and a cotton ball. None of them had ever attempted to do this before, it was so easy! Great product, thank again.
