    My first Firesteel purchase

Posted by Jim C. Arkansas Ozarks on May 12th 2012

After spending countless hours pouring over all the reviews and comments about the different "fire starters", The FireSteel kept having the highest reviews. I orderd 3 to start off with and after quick shipping, I was really impressed the way they worked.

My Friends Bought These When They Saw Mine

Posted by Fred T, Santa Clarita, CA on May 10th 2012

This worked better than expected. One to two strikes is all that is needed to ignite cotton balls. After seeing what it could do, some friends also bought this.

    always in my back pocket

Posted by doug in the backwoods on May 6th 2012

I usually try to buy the best gear i can afford (i also practice k.i.s.s.- keep it super simple). I ordered the Armageddon firesteel with a couple of extra strikers, and loved it so much I ordered a bunker firesteel model a month later. The Armageddon firesteel is always in my back pocket.

Swedish fire steel is a joke.

Posted by Soulo on Apr 24th 2012

Wish I knew about this product before purchasing a Swedish fire steel that sucks. Sure you can make fire with it but you can make one 10x easier with firesteel dot com's fire steel. Who said the Swedish army knows what they are doing? or what kind of equipment standards they have? Had a lot of trouble lighting magnesium shavings with the Swedish model, a single scrape on these rods quickly ignited the shavings. These FireSteel.com Firesteels rock! Keep up the good work. Anyone that is serious about survival will purchase from here. Thank you for your promptness and great products! Also got some magnesium rods, make good tinder unless using a Swedish fire steel, better use gas in that case!

    It Just Plain Works

Posted by Tom from Buffalo on Apr 11th 2012

Today, my FireSteel Armageddon with Scraper and Lanyard came in the mail. Couldn't wait to try it out. Nice heft to it. The scraper is comfortable to hold. MUCH nicer than the cut off hacksaw blades some Ferro rods come with. One stroke ignited my tinder of choice, a vaseline cotton ball. My daughter in law was very interested in it. She has never been camping (yet) or started a campfire. I told her to give it a try. We took a little alcohol swab out of a medical kit to use as tinder. She got a fire going in two strokes. (might have been the first one, but alcohol flames are hard to see in the daylight.)Not bad at all for somebody who has never done it before. Simple, and it does exactly what it is supposed to do. I cannot think of any higher compliment for any piece of equipment than, "It Just Plain Works"

    FireSteele VS Bic lighter

Posted by Erik on Mar 26th 2012

I just returned from testing my FireSteel. It was raining and I had close to a ten mile per hour wind. To test my FireSteel I used pitch shavings, cotton balls rubbed with vasoline, and newspaper individually to start fairly dry twigs i gathered from dead or dying limbs. Both worked but the FireSteel was MUCH easier to light the fires with. The super hot burning sparks work great. I will be buying some more for my backpacking group.
