    Perfect Size for my needs

Posted by Unknown on Dec 4th 2014

I immediately took my new Firesteel out and put it to test on a log in my back yard. I had just purchased a new Hunting knife, and it had a good FLAT area on top of the blade which worked really well to strike my fire. I used a Cotton Ball with Petroleum Jelly to get the fire started, and the spark took to it right away. Love it, and I have a heavy duty key ring strung through the hole of the Firestell, which will help me keep it secured.

    DYI Handle

Found an old tool in my box used to start wood screws with a nice round wood handle I used to re-purpose and mounted the 4.0 Firesteel blank rod.

    Fire in three strikes

Posted by Unknown on Jul 18th 2014

I attached this fire steel to a piece of cedar and pinned it on. Worked great and made a feather stick and had a fire in three strikes after coating was removed

The fire steel preformed 100% as advertised and also comes with detailed instructions and tips for first time users. I also wanted to say that the customer service is outstanding, when I contacted Ron, I had a question about the shipping and was met with a quick and accurate response for my order and it was delivered on time with 100% accuracy and satisfaction.

    Great Fire-steels!

Posted by Unknown on Feb 13th 2014

Ron has top quality products at a great price. I get supplies for the young men I mentor and send all my buddies here as well. Wouldn't do that if this wasn't the good stuff. This is the place for starting a fire...K

    An Outstanding Product

    Posted by C R on Feb 11th 2014

These firesteels are simply outstanding. The price, the buying experience, the quick handling and shipping, and your company ethic are all outstanding also. Your competitors, if you have any, must be envious.

I trust my life to this

Posted by Erick from Baltimore on Dec 9th 2013

I look at fire as the single most important thing to ensure short term (and long term) survival. I love the sparks that are produced from firesteel.com products. In the wild, your tinder may not always be as easy to light as a cotton ball, and for this Mr. Fontaine delivers the perfect product. For damp or rough tinder like cedar bark shreds ( or feather sticks ), slowly scrape a small amount of material from the firesteel and strike one or two good sets of white hot sparks. They will continue to burn as well as light up the pile of scraped material. Instant fire even with damp tinder. Best of all, with the survival size, you have plenty to work with without carrying extra weight. I keep one attached to the back of my mora sheath using ranger bands as well as a gob spark ranger size in my pack, and another survival size in the get home bag in my car. This is a great product and great value.
