The MOST dependable flame thrower.... This ain't a sparker y'all! It's a ball of fire thrower. All of them from mini to huge! Buy it! Save time and money, and perhaps the lives of you and loved ones ........ I have tried em all( I build fire tools with fatwood handles), trust me. There are NO better ferro rods anywhere. PERIOD!!

Just plain great! Try one of these next to your bud's wally world toy and watch him throw his into the trash. You can start a fire in the rain with one of these.

I've stashed these steels in every piece of gear that I carry. I've used them many times myself and now I put Ironwood handles on them and give them to friends. Great product!!

    Excellent compact firesteel!

Throws a nice shower of sparks easily. I tried it with a few different scrapers, and even the spine of my Randall Model 18. I would gladly buy from Firesteel.com again!

Two birds with one strike ;)

This is for the Survival 3.15 ferro rod AND the Bunker 4.0, so please bear with me. I wear the 3.15 around my neck (with my cross) and I have it at all times. the size is (at 5/16") a light weight but easily held size and has enough body to make holding easy. I have played with it long enough to try to wear it out, but it just ain't gonna happen. The Bunker 4.0 is short enough to hold but still put in a pocket and is a great 1/2" in diameter. I have played with it but have no illusions that I'll outlast it :) It is in my BOB at this time. price and durability is right. the 3.15 is easier to carry but both are quality items. I make fires in my hibashi (sp?). I had a blast. I was using petro-cotton balls and very wet twigs and had not one bit of trouble making fires. I think my neighbors thought I was nuts, but I had fun, which at that time was needed.

    Perfect Size for my needs

Posted by Unknown on Dec 4th 2014

I immediately took my new Firesteel out and put it to test on a log in my back yard. I had just purchased a new Hunting knife, and it had a good FLAT area on top of the blade which worked really well to strike my fire. I used a Cotton Ball with Petroleum Jelly to get the fire started, and the spark took to it right away. Love it, and I have a heavy duty key ring strung through the hole of the Firestell, which will help me keep it secured.

    DYI Handle

Found an old tool in my box used to start wood screws with a nice round wood handle I used to re-purpose and mounted the 4.0 Firesteel blank rod.
