Firesteel.com makes the best fero rods I have found.

Posted by Cameron Hummel on Jan 22nd 2018

I have many sizes of Firesteel.com rods, but the 3.15" with lanyard hole is a great size to attach to a knife sheath, or as I like to do, glue them into a fatwood handle. Along with the Super Scraper, my fatwood/fero rod tool gives me fire in the wettest conditions in a small package.

    Best I've Used

Posted by Shane Cullihall on Oct 28th 2016

This firesteel is by far the best and easiest to use of all types I've tried. Great sparks with minimal effort, and it was delivered quickly even though I'm in Canada (ships from USA). I'll definitely be buying more of these!

You can't go wrong with the rods from FireSteel.com. They are by far, the best rods, with superior materials. When you are serious about having a fire steel that will actual light a fire, then you have come to the right place. Excellent materials, many size and variation options, and great prices make these ferro rods the best.

Will more than serve my purposes

Posted by Don on Oct 4th 2016

I'm very happy with this product. Only time will tell on longevity but it definitely throws more spark than other steels I've owned. The lanyard hole is a plus. Shipping was very fast. The products I purchased were at my mailbox in less than 48hrs from the time of the order. Customer for life now .

    On my car key rings!

Posted by Gregory Turner on Apr 12th 2016

I connect one of these firesteels and a Super Scraper together using a split-ring and then attach the split-ring to my car key ring. Whenever I have my car keys with me, I have the means to make a fire. I also keep a Firesteel, Super Scraper, compass and a Storm Emergency Whistle on a paracord lanyard in the glove box of each car.

A lot of firesteel for not much weight.

Posted by James of Canada on Apr 11th 2016

All Firesteels sold by this company are great, it is just a matter of picking the right size for your application. I picked up this one because I wanted something thick enough to fit a .30 cal bullet casing I am using for handles. The 4" length is to allow a god amount to be glued into the handle as well as a lot of rod to use. A tip with long rods is to not scrape the whole length, it is just not needed, scrap the last 2" of the rod and when that eventually wears out you still have a 2" rod left to do it all over again!

    Nice touch

The Firesteel with lanyard hole makes it simple to add a scraper, and even a magnesium bar, to assemble a great kit to have in the car, your go bag, or anywhere you might need fire-starting gear.

You picked up the fire steel survival 4.0 and mounted it into a hunk of deer antler. It throws sparks like a forth of July fireworks show. I can't wait to head for the woods and try it out. Ordering on lineand shipping was fast and easy, my fire steels arrived on time and undamaged
