Very Small, of value in small kits

Posted by Jim in SoCal on Dec 14th 2011

I have several firesteels and love them all - this one is very small and could be ideal for tiny survival kits, I followed the instructions that are given with each order and know many people have had success with this small firesteel. Plus, you can buy any size firesteel you want - from the diminutive mini to massively large magnum!

    Great keychain & gift

Pop one of these in a .22LR casing together with some JB weld or what have you, then drill a hole through the case and rod to attach a split ring or d-ring. Total cost of a nice present/keychain firesteel, about $1.

    Great firesteel for the size

Posted by Jason on Apr 27th 2011

I purchases 8 of these little guys hoping they would work good enough for a decent amount of uses. They do great for the compact size. I have used these integrated with a paracord lanyard and they work great. So small you can't even tell its in the middle of the paracord.

    Awesome item

Posted by Ron on Apr 27th 2011

I was hesitant about buying this steel, along with the pup steel. I really didn't know if the size would be something usable. But now that I received both sizes, I will be buying more just to stash. These are great steels for survival packs, or just for stashing in different places for emergencies. Their cheap, buy several, for fun, camping, or for insurance. They are fun, and might just save your life.

    Tiny, yet still above average

Posted by Erick Ohmstede on Apr 27th 2011

This little guy is tiny, light weight, and can be a little hard to handle. But once you get the technique of holding it down and striking it firmly, it becomes much easier to see why you should have this in a back-up survival kit in the woods. On my person i carry either the Firesteel.com Survival in an old knife pouch next to a bar of magnesium (from which the incompetent flint wore down) or the ranger FireSteel with a striker around my neck. But in my pack will always sit on of those little waterproof match containers with a few cotton balls and a firesteel.com mini... thanks firesteel.com
