Hands down the best firesteels from the best company

Posted by Unknown on Dec 17th 2016

I am a former Special Forces team leader and work internationally in disaster response and I am a repeat firesteel.com customer. I have been coveting this granddaddy of firesteels since I first purchased here. I started out with the Armageddon firesteels with palm strikers. And they're amazing. East to hold and use in any conditions. Massive amounts of sparks. Foolproof firestarting. A couple years ago I had to try out the square firesteels and also threw in the 1/2" by 6". I loved them both too. Especially the larger one. The length and larger diameter produced even more sparks. I finally broke down and bought the Magnum. For everyday I carry the Armageddon. The idea behind the Magnum was to have something to last year after year in a long term disaster for lighting stoves and long term camp setup. Holy moly. It's like watching a fireworks show every time I strike it. I've been carrying it around with me and sleeping with it near my pillow the past few days I'm so in love. I've played with many, many firesteels over the years. Both hard and soft ferro rods. None of the others can hold a candle to firesteel.com firesteels. The sheer quantity and quality of sparks is better than anything else I've tested and I've tested them all. If you don't know already, anyone can light a fire with a sixty nine cent bic lighter in the summertime with dry tinder. But with hypothermic hands and submerged equipment a lighter and fine dexterity won't work. And that's when you NEED a good firesteel. And my praise isn't just for the firesteels themselves. Ron, the owner of firesteel.com, personally has responded to every email I've ever sent him in a very timely manner. When one shipment was back ordered (hey, it happens, no biggie) he more than made it up without me even asking. I can't possibly say enough good about Ron, firesteel.com, or his firesteels. I send everyone I know to him and I will be a lifelong customer.

To hold hundreds of thousands of fires in one hand

Posted by Unknown on Feb 17th 2016

Do you really need a fire steel this big? There are some folks who take of their tools and don't lose them either. With that being said, sometimes it is just fun to own the best tool of a certain kind. It ends up being a conversation piece that you are proud to showcase. Have a conversation around your next fire about this tool. You have a 6 inch steel to plant on a hard service and if tinder is proper, 1 or 2 strikes. Part of it is because it is a 6 inch steel but the other part is because it is a FireSteel.com fire steel. One of my prized possessions. I place this fire steel next to my handmade full tang CPM 3V Scandi knife and I can say that I am a fortunate man to have the best of the best.

    Can't wear it out

Posted by Jay .C on Aug 26th 2014

It has been 2 years since I bought this product. I go to the hiking on daily bases. I have used it, and loved it. I made fire over 700 times now with this firesteel. But the firesteel has only minimum wear. I am thinking about buying another one for my friend.

As an Army Ranger I'm no stranger to survival; I Used this to light a fire in a swamp during a training exercise. I've since used mine to light countless fires in the most severe conditions and It never fails me. I look forward to passing mine down to my great grandchildren. Thanks Firesteel!
