  1. Should of purchased a long time ago

Posted by Kirk in Missouri on Nov 29th 2015

My BOB, along with my wife's, needed the addition of fire steels. After research I found the best regarded steels came from Firesteel.Com.

I ordered a couple of steels and scrapers. And the shipping charge was only $4.95 (a place where most business charge $$ for their handling and packaging). In 3 days the order was in my mailbox!!! To my surprise, they arrived in a very small pkg and once opened, found the steels wrapped in an 81/2 x 11 pice of paper.......which was the instructions on how to best use your steels. I found that this "packaging" was totally cool.......no bulk, no fuzzy marketing.......just common sense that keeps the cost to the customer at a minimum. I really appreciate this!!!

But the best part are the steels themselves........WOW. Talk about a HOT SPARK. My only concern was that I didn't order any magnesium at the same time. But this company ROCKS. Just check out the reviews. And no, I have no affiliation with this company. I just like giving credit where credit is due. Thanks for a great product!!!!

  2. Best for Altoid and Mini Kits

Posted by James from Canada on Apr 2nd 2015

I ordered this along with the Micro and the Tiny, I would suggest that this is the smallest you go with if you want a small fire steel for mini survival kits.

  3. Great Mini Firesteel, Excellent Service

Works great ordered 50 pcs to make mini fire kits for Boy Scouts.
Is just the right size for mini survival kits

  4. Works

Posted by Derek on Feb 20th 2015

This thing is little. I superglued mine to the side of a mini bic as a back up. Practiced using it to light a vaseline impregnated cotton ball and the sparks started it right up in 17 degree weather. I used the back of the blade of a Spyderco ladybug with locking blade. Worked great! Very small, well rounded fire kit! I also used it to light my alcohol stove in 17 degree weather. Noticed that it didn't throw the sparks quite as far as my much larger firesteel but worked none the less. I will be ordering more of these!

  5. excellent products, excellent company, good state motto

Posted by Unknown on Jan 6th 2015

great product, fast shipping even over the holiday, have purchased from this company before have never had any problems with their products. Probably some of the best prices on the internet. I only give it 4 stars because I never give anything 5 stars there's always room for improvement. Most went towards christmas gifts. Have used their products in the past have always been able to make a fire. Really need to use there stryker or use a good carbon steel knives 4 best Sparks.

Very small and powerful steels, great for EDC tins or survival kits

  8. Size Matters!

Posted by PaPa K on Aug 21st 2014

In this case it makes for a small stowaway steel that can go almost anywhere and then go everywhere. it is the same great quality, and its as easy to use as a big ones, depending on the size of your hands. This is the best steel to have on hand when the big one gets left in the bag or at rig. Another great steel from Ron...K

  11. Perfect diameter for gutted 550 paracord

Posted by Raphael Frommer on Mar 20th 2014

Cut a suitably short length of 550 paracord, remove the 7 inner strands, slip in the miniature steel, sear the ends of the cord with a flame (per usual with paracord), and string onto your keychain.

  12. perfect

Posted by Unknown on Feb 20th 2014

exactly what I wanted...a steel that sparks heavily, is small and easily stored in my survival kit. It came very fast (a couple days and friendly service. I don't give 5 stars very often but they deserve it!

  13. Coolest thing for a tiny kit

Posted by Philip on Feb 11th 2014

I had trouble envisioning how small this tool would be, but it is just perfect; large enough to grip and get a lot of strikes from, but small enough to fit into even the small camp or survival kits. i was going to put a handle on it, but it works fine for me without one. I'm very happy!

The fact that it arrived in no time at all is just a bonus.

Really excited to get this product. The 2 inch rod fits nicely in my wallet. I also ordered one for every one of my family's bug out bags. Great price, great product, and I received it in the mail 3 days after I ordered it. Was very pleased to also receive instructions. Highly recommend.

  17. Great Product!

Posted by Joseph Lindvall on Jan 20th 2014

I bought several of these steels. I was worried that they might be to small to be able to use affectively. But no they work great! I am gonna keep one in my wallet and one in every emergency kit and backpacking stuff I have.

  18. Great for hiding.

Posted by Scav on Jan 15th 2014

Tucked this inside one of my paracord boot laces and sealed the end off. It is not visible to onlookers, but if I need it it is there.

Turn around time on this order was as outstanding as the product.
