Product Description
These soft magnesium tinder rods are 3/8 inch in diameter by 3 inches long. To use, simply scrape off a small pile shavings using your knife or FireSteel scraper.
When you apply a flame or spark from from your firesteel the agnesium shavings will burn at 4000 degrees F (2200 degrees C). This extremely high temperature makes magnesium an excellent tinder for helping you start fires with damp wood.

For the purpose that you would use this Mg Tinder Rod for, it's hard to beat.
The magnesium rod is small enough to fit in a pant pocket without any troubles, and if you get the one with the lanyard hole drilled in it, then you can put it on one of those keychain rings you find in hardware stores and add it to your keychain or a lanyard with a Firesteel complete tool setup, or, just a Firesteel Rod with a lanyard hole in it too.
At the low price these are being offered at, I am sure they will catch on real quick once folks start finding out how long they last and how small a space and weight they take up! :-)
Certainly these magnesium tinder rods are inexpensive enough to buy a couple to try out and experiment with for yourself.
As for me, I am ordering a dozen more of them along with and equal number of the new Super Strikers too! :-) Those work fantastic too. But, that is another story! :-D
