It's just awesome!!

Hey , just received my new Firesteel Bunker in a very timely matter. Thank you Ron for such attention to delivery. I have already used the Bunker to start my charcoal B.B.Q. with a little help from my dryer lint and on the first strike I was on my way to a beautiful steak dinner. I am now gonna order a couple of blocks of magnesium to compliment my Bunker steel. It's just awesome!!

Best composition, superior to ferrocerium

Anyone who's used ferrocerium before will soon realize when using these that they are of a different composition than "classic" ferrocerium rods. They are softer and from what I can figure, contain magnesium - or a higher concentration of magnesium than "normal" ferrocerium. While the sparks will burn longer, they are easier to ignite and generally I end up having to strike just once to get the sparks going - meaning the rod lasts longer.
It sparks EVERY TIME with EVERY scraper, every knife, etc

Almost burned the office down

It took just two scrapes. The first scrape on this firesteel removed some of the outer coating. The second scrape on the exposed metal of the firesteel sent a big glob of hissing sparks onto my desk. These bounced onto the carpet and sat there smoldering while I stomped on them trying to put them out.
Warning: do NOT try this at home!
Kudos and 5-stars. These fire starters ARE the real deal.

I recently bought his "Bunker" model.
(5 x 1/2). I tried it outside during a shower, it was not torrential, but raining steadily. I compared it to the Blast Match, which I actually like and use for certain things. But the fire steel blew it away.
The amount of sparks the thing throws off is insane. This thing works well in all conditions. I won't go into the woods again without one. I also carry cotton balls soaked in Vaseline.
I'd be more worried about how to put the fire out with this monster.

I just received the Firesteel Bunker from the today. It took me a total of 2 minutes from opening the box to starting a fire with a wadded up piece of paper towel.

Unbelievable! I have never used a firesteel before trying this model. Right out of the box, first scrape, and a GIANT pile of big thick sparks flew off the firesteel and onto my pile of tinder, which burst into flame.
Would I recommend these firesteels? You bet!

This IS a Bunker Buster of a firesteel. I bought three, one for myself and one for both of my grown sons. Huge sparks, very easy to use.

I had to laugh when the guy from Alaska called these firesteels "Bunker Busters", because that is what they are - huge, easy to use firesteels with plenty of rod to make thousands of fires.

I bought 2 bunker rods with scraper and magnesium rod a couple of weeks ago. If you like to know you can start a fire in any condition without having to carry perfect tinder on you,this is the one you need. It will light up almost any natural tinder that you find in the woods. I live in wet and cold Canada, and they shine.

I tried out this fire steel as soon as I got it on 2 different kinds of birch bark and it worked great! I wanted a BIG firesteel as the last scout model I bought from another company was dissapointing. Buy one and you won't be disappointed.

Nothing in the hiking shops in the uk, are like these beasts. I ordered a couple of these firesteels around a year ago, and used 1 to abuse, to test it the problem is the bloody thing does not wear out, and have just got 1 side worn halfway down and another load left. All in all a quality item.

OMG, I just love the FireSteel Rods that I ordered from you. They are a thousand times better than the inferior, cheap, Swedish type fire rods that I have purchased from the chain hiking stores. I was blown away by the amount of sparks and bouncing burning globules that come from your fire rods. You have a customer for life and I will recommend you to all of my friends.
