Product Description
FireSteel.com produces these big slabs of soft magnesium that you can use as a waterproof and nearly indestructible source of tinder for starting fires.
Magnesium burns at 4000 degree F. Using your knife or FireSteel scraper, simply shave off a small pile of magnesium shavings. When a spark from your FireSteel hits this pile of magnesium it will burst into a white hot flame that will help ignite damp firewood.
Each magnesium bar has a convienient lanyard hole for easy attachment to your FireSteel and scraper. This combination makes an excellent Fire Starting Kit.

- Size: 1-inch wide X 3/8-inch thick X 3-inches long
- Weight: approx 1.3 ounces (37 grams)

Reliable Tinder

Magnesium has its pluses, it requires little work to scrape shavings off it but the reward is tinder that will catch on fire even if you have fallen into water with it or it is raining hard and all other available tinder is wet.
Also, if you need more magnesium simply add another chunk onto your firesteel lanyard.

The first thing I noticed when opening the FireSteel.com shipping tube was this big chunk of shiny magnesium, a work of art.
Plenty of magnesium tinder for dozens of fires. Fun to use too.

It takes a little practice and then you can use magnesium to help make fires when your regular tinder is damp. This big magnesium bar has plenty of magnesium to start dozens of fires.
