The Survival FireSteel by FireSteel.com with a special Super FireSteel Scraper, lanyard. The firesteel rod measures 5/16ths of an inch in diameter and is x 3.15 inches long. Also includes a tinder rod made of soft magnesium.

To use the magnesium as tinder, simply scrape a small pile of shavings off the soft magnesium rod. When a spark from the FireSteel hits the magnesium, the magnesium will easily catch on fire and burn at a temperature of 4000 degrees F (2200 °C). This can then be used to ingnite your natural tinder

A big advantage to carrying a piece of magnesium for tinder is that it will not become damp or wet.
