  1. Great for Paracord Bracelet with Fire Kit

Posted by Dave M. on Sep 1st 2013

I purchase the firesteel pup to use in my paracord bracelet fire making kit. I do have to shorten them by about a half in or so and then weave them in with small piece of fatwood( aprox the same length and diameter) and 3 strands of jute twine and a whistle buckle. I have the ability to slide it out and reinsert it if i want. Great product.

  2. Large enough ...

Posted by Steve on Aug 31st 2013

Small enough but large enough for your EDC. Inexpensive enough to have more than one. Buy one large rod that you may lose or lend when you need it or buy 5 or 6 and have backups. Drop in your pocket for that quick fix fire.

  3. Quality product, cant go wrong

Posted by Unknown Prepper on Aug 20th 2013

Not my first ferro rod purchse with Ron, and wont be my last. Many of my previous ferro rods not included in my various kits have gone to friends. This rod goes into my car survival kit, next to my Ziploc bowl of Vaseline-soaked cotton balls.

I expect to be able to start a fire with this rod in under 3 strikes - same as with my other ferro rods.

  4. FireSteel Pup

Posted by Michael Foster on May 20th 2013

My son had a Magnesium - Ferro fire starting tool. In the process of moving the ferro rod was broken off (bad glue) and lost. My son, being 9, was devastated because it was his best fire starter. I had no idea where to look for a replacement. I found Firesteel.com and easily found the exact replacement (FireSteel Pup). Within 3 minutes of finding the website, I was entering my card and shipping info. My son was not so sure because the lost one "was the best sparking fire starter that he ever had". When we received the new rod, he was jumping with joy because of the perfect fit and how easy it was to produce sparks.

Firesteel.com has already been saved into my favorites and from now on will be the first place I look.

I am 100% satisfied with the ease of ordering, delivery of the product and quality of the merchandise received.

  5. Perfect

Posted by Unknown on Apr 8th 2013

These are perfect for stuffing in a multi tool stealth or compact survival kit.

  6. Best I've Found

Posted by Unknown on Mar 1st 2013

Was looking for a fire starting system to go into my Altoids survival cans for me and my friends. Got a scraper also and they take up little room to save space. And with them i can cut back on back ups because its really all you need with some tinder.

  7. Good product

Posted by Dave on Feb 4th 2013

These work very well for their size and are perfect for the paracord survival bracelets I make!

  8. Great

Posted by Brian on Feb 1st 2013

These are great for their size. They work really well. I put them in an old platic medicine container with the striker, magnesium rod, and some cotton balls. I store them in both my vehicles just in case.

  9. Super fast shipping

Posted by Unknown on Jan 3rd 2013

I am making custom handles and giving the sets out as gifts. The size is right on as ordered and shipping was super fast. No complaints!

  10. Easy to carry

Posted by Unknown on Dec 19th 2012

Great size to throw in your pocket with a standard pocket knife, and always be able to start a fire

  11. Firesteel Pup and Superscraper

Posted by Michael Tidd on Dec 18th 2012

I have to say that these 2 products lived up to every bit of what has been written about them. I was able to give the scraper and firesteel to my daughter, who has never laid hands on one and she was able to light one of my homemade tinders within 3 scrapes.

Perfect size for the PSK's that I am making this year. These item have exceeded all my expectations. I will recommend all of your products to anyone/everyone based on this. Thank-you

  12. Perfect for my wallet

Posted by Unknown on Oct 30th 2012

I don't go anywhere without my wallet, The pup and the striker both fit well along the inside wall of my wallet. I also love how the pup firesteel throws a good strong spark when I need it.

  13. Perfect size for sharing!

Posted by kat on Oct 17th 2012

This size firesteel is perfect for sharing! I thought I bought enough for everyone in my family (15) but I guess my family just got bigger!

  14. pup review

Awsome steels love all the options in stock, the only place to buy great products.

  15. Should be slipped into every knife sheath

Posted by Dave L. on Jun 27th 2012

Two pieces of bicycle inner tube and one of these make a perfect addition to any knife sheath. Slip the inner tube over the sheath, then the second piece of inner tube over that. Slide the firesteel in between, and it will hold it in place. Perfect for emergency fire starting.

  16. so small you might forget you have it in a pinch

Posted by shepsi on May 21st 2012

Exactly as described: tiny enough to fit in the corner of a wallet business card pocket. prompt shipping. excellent emergency fire starter.

  17. A must have for everyone!

Posted by David Culver on Apr 27th 2011

I have had this little guy for over a year now and I have started hundreds of fires with the same one. It continues to give me all the sparks I need to light any tinder that I put in front of it. I wear this little guy around my neck everyday and I do not leave home without it. A must for everyone to have.

  18. This little guy is all you really need.

Posted by Jake McCoy on Apr 27th 2011

You can get a larger rod, but this little guy is all you really need. I know because I also have the Armaggedon. Yes, a larger rod is easier to use, but this Pup can be packed almost anywhere. I packed a pup in a small waterproof capsule that also contains tinder (cotton ball with petroleum jelly). I carry the scraper on the outside. The whole setup costs less than $6. Side note, the shipping is fast and packaging is great.

  19. Pup Firesteel Rod good for small survival kit

Posted by chief on Apr 27th 2011

Small but handy firesteel for making fire in an emergency. As Jebby writes, it throws very hot sparks even though it is a small firesteel

  20. Agree - Nice FireSteel for the Keyring

Posted by Loves the Outdoors on Apr 27th 2011

You have an outstanding good and well structured site. I enjoyed browsing through it.

Last week I purchased one of your FireSteel Pup Tubes for my keyring, which I carry everywhere.

Easy to start a fire with this device, once you learn how - a few scrapes and the sparks fly! Now I know I can always start a fire when I need one no matter what.

    5 thumbs up!
