I always purchase all the ferro and magnesium rods I use, or give as gifts, from from FireSteel (and have for many years). I will say that I can't think I've every used a ferro rod that has thrown more hot sparks per strike, or been more enjoyable to use or teach others with, than these.
However, high quality ferrocerium and magnesium rods are only a *part* of what you get when you deal with FireSteel. I don't think I have ever received such personal, first-class customer service from any other company I've ever dealt with, and THAT is the reason that keeps me coming back!! Thank you!

I bought the smaller fire steel because I have a larger family and I have to consider price when putting a kit together for five or more people.
Haven't tested them in the field yet but they appear to have a great deal more spark than other fire steels.
The shipping was amazingly fast. They arrived at my mailbox less than 48 hours after i submitted my order.
I couldn't be happier and will make all my purchases here from now on

I have several firesteels and think they are great. I bought the 3" Firesteel PUPS to carry in my Altoids tin emergency kit. The are small enough in diameter and short enough that they fit perfectly and take very little space. And the 3" length provides a secure grip.

Works as stated and super fast shipping. Reasonable price.
Made a loyal customer out of me.

I use these for backup kits placed in a snuff tin with a small lighter, char cloth and a "fire straw" with dryer lint.

Great product. I have used firesteel for a while now as either replacements or to tuck away here and there.

The confidence of being able to have a fire relieves a great deal of stress when faced with an unexpected stay in the back country......especially in inclimate weather. These firesteels provide that confidence. The time saved in producing a comforting fire can go towards other life saving activities. I sincerely appreciate the care that this company takes in producing a quality, trustworthy piece of equipment.

The pup is a perfect size fire steel to insert into hollowed paracord. I used a small piece and gorilla glued it to the end of the steel and hung it on my key chain as part of my EDC. It worked perfect!! Throws sparks just like other ones I've gotten from Firesteel.com. I really like their products.

The only thing I question is ? Does this Ron guy ever SLEEP ???

The pup is exactly what it says and works perfect for the kits I'm making. I also received a hand written note on my receipt which goes a long way with me.

With the super scraper, these throw a real shower of sparks that lit jute right up.

were inexpensive, just what I ordered. Attached my own antler handles and made nice Christmas gifts!

I purchase the firesteel pup to use in my paracord bracelet fire making kit. I do have to shorten them by about a half in or so and then weave them in with small piece of fatwood( aprox the same length and diameter) and 3 strands of jute twine and a whistle buckle. I have the ability to slide it out and reinsert it if i want. Great product.

Small enough but large enough for your EDC. Inexpensive enough to have more than one. Buy one large rod that you may lose or lend when you need it or buy 5 or 6 and have backups. Drop in your pocket for that quick fix fire.

Not my first ferro rod purchse with Ron, and wont be my last. Many of my previous ferro rods not included in my various kits have gone to friends. This rod goes into my car survival kit, next to my Ziploc bowl of Vaseline-soaked cotton balls.
I expect to be able to start a fire with this rod in under 3 strikes - same as with my other ferro rods.

My son had a Magnesium - Ferro fire starting tool. In the process of moving the ferro rod was broken off (bad glue) and lost. My son, being 9, was devastated because it was his best fire starter. I had no idea where to look for a replacement. I found Firesteel.com and easily found the exact replacement (FireSteel Pup). Within 3 minutes of finding the website, I was entering my card and shipping info. My son was not so sure because the lost one "was the best sparking fire starter that he ever had". When we received the new rod, he was jumping with joy because of the perfect fit and how easy it was to produce sparks.
Firesteel.com has already been saved into my favorites and from now on will be the first place I look.
I am 100% satisfied with the ease of ordering, delivery of the product and quality of the merchandise received.
