  1. Around My Neck Right Now

Posted by Matt on Feb 3rd 2017

I tied a piece of Type III Nylon (para-cord) to this fire steel using a constrictor knot. I always carry a knife, along with a small piece of fatwood in my pocket. This is a more sure fire method of starting a fire than strike anywhere matches, or even a zippo. Less to go wrong. This was my first order, and I am impressed with the product, as well as Ron's customer service. You've got a lifetime customer on your hands.

  2. Excellence

    Posted by K C on Jul 25th 2016

Ordered the 4"x1/2" rod. Was delivered in a very timely manor. Gotta say, I mounted this rod in an elk antler as a handhold and this rod throws lightning bolts and fireballs!! Seriously, its a great product and I will be ordering more of them for my other kits

  3. Now this is a Firesteel!

Posted by Don on Dec 15th 2015

This rod is spark city! Great size (I got the 4") and will last a long time as you don't need to scrape it as much to start a fire.

  4. Very good fire steel

Posted by Unknown on May 28th 2015

These are very good fire rods that throw a lot of sparks to make a fire easily provided you have the right fire tender.

Tip: If you somehow end up without a fire rod striker you can break a rock by using another rock to bash the rock against it until you have a rock with a sharp edge and then use the sharp edge of that rock to strike your fire rod.

  5. FireSteel Bunker 4.0 / Wind / Cotton Ball with Vaseline

Posted by S. Maxson on Oct 5th 2014

I received a FireSteel Bunker 4.0 about a week ago.Today I tested it under 15 mph windy conditions on open ground. I used a cotton ball with Vaseline petroleum jelly, a small amount mixed through the cotton ball. I used a pocket knife blade. ( 1 ) strike ignited the cotton ball. I am impressed! FireSteel fire steels are the best I have ever used and owned.

  6. Get one

Got it on time and works great.

  7. Great Fire Steel

Posted by Unknown on Jun 9th 2014

The Bunker 2.5 x4" throws a great amount of sparks with a good knife.

  8. Great Ferro Rod!

Posted by Unknown on May 2nd 2014

I've heard so much about these over the past year and I finally ordered from them. When using the spine of my knife the sparks just come off and stay hot for several seconds. I also like that you can scrape small shavings off to get a pile like a magnesium bar for stubborn tinder. I'm curious to how long they last because I like playing with them just to see the sparks fall.

I will order from firesteel.com again.

  9. Massive Amount Of Spark!!!

Posted by Mule on Mar 24th 2014

Headline says it all. You can almost warm yourself with the sparks. These things, I believe, would start a fire underwater!

  10. Great product

Posted by Christopher M on May 24th 2013

I am a wilderness survival and outdoor expert, I have used many different fire steels. None of them though can compare to the prices and the quality of firesteel.com fire steels.

  11. great product

Posted by Unknown on Jan 3rd 2013

I got 2 blank rods because my old old Armageddon was running low and getting warn out so I want to get 2 replacements it has last for over 2 years and many fires, I have not need to change out the rod yet, but when the time comes, I can

  12. "Replacement" back-up?? yeah Right!!

Posted by Mark from Marietta S.C. on Dec 8th 2012

I bought this as "back-up" blank rod for my Deluxe Bunker Firesteel Tube, or at least for the "steel" part. These Firesteels throw such a fit of screaming mutant lava-like sparks, its like they're "mad as hell going somewhere to happen" When you scrape a Firesteel Ferro Rod with some decent authoritative pressure...well...thats one of the few times you'll screw a cap back on the front door of Hades and live to tell about it
