Purchasing the 5 pack just makes sense as does the old axiom, you don't keep all your eggs in one basket.
By purchasing this set of different sizes, you can carry the Armageddon when you go camping, keep the Survival in your vehicle, keep the Ranger at home in case of emergencies, practice with the Pup and put the mMini in your personal survival kit (psk). The Pup isn't expensive to reorder so it is expendable as a tool for practicing your skills and neither is the Mini for those who have several psk's! It makes sense when you think about it. Of course, the final decision is really up to you. The 5 pack gives you options in an economical package.
Plus, if you order the 5 pack and add another Pup for more practice and another Striker to keep in your Personal Survival Kit, you get free shipping! How cool is that?

I made an order for 7 fire steels, of various shapes and sizes plus 2 firesteel scrapers on Jan 7th, I received them today which has to be some sort of international mailing record!
The products are unbelivable as well the scrapers are fantastic and each fire steel is the best quality I have ever used! you have a new life long customer and one who will sing your companies praises to who ever will listen.
I am teaching a willderness survivial course this weekend and will give your web site information to each student.
Thanks again, I really look forward to doing buisness with you again soon!

Ron, I am so thankful I found your website. I ordered the 5 pack and some extra strikers and Minis. The products are well worth the cost and work at least as well as advertised.
I have started dozens of fires with my test Mini FireSteel, and though it is showing it, there is much more life in it. I did my tests on the Mini as it was the smallest and fits in my wallet without noticing it is there. It puts out more than enough sparks to get the job done and is always with me as is my pen knife which I use as a striker. If I am waring pants, I will have a fire!
In a pinch you can pull lint from your socks for tinder. The other Mini is in a Altoids "Tiny Tin" with some cotton and lint. Takes up less space than my car keys.
Dryer lint and Cotton balls with petroleum jelly are my preferred starter tinder and always takes the spark. No blowing on a birds nest, just instant fire. Both flame on just a stroke or two of the fire steel.
In the past I always used matches or a lighter but I now find this method of fire starting to be faster and more of a sure thing. Matches can be iffy in a wind or if they are old, but not the fire steel.
Perhaps my most common use for the fire steel is to start my turkey fryer. Once I hear the gas, one strike has it going. It is much faster than using one of those long tipped, unreliable BBQ lighters. And if one does the math, costs far less then the lighter per use.
I used springs which I got off a set of dollar store alan wrenches to attach to four of the sizes of steels you provided. I then tie a lanyard with the striker to each. They work great and keep the striker at hand.
For those considering trying these for the first time I would recommend getting the assortment with extra strikers. Every size will get your fires going and you should always have one ware you need them. Wallet, car, pack, first aid kit, grill, etc.
Thanks again for an excellent product at a very reasonable price. I will defiantly do business with you again.

I got this handy little 5 pack from firesteel.com and it's great! It's nice to have a whole bunch of different sized firesteels because they can be placed in different, useful places. The biggest is lanyarded to my LBE and the smallest is 100 mile-an-hour taped to my EDC Neck Knife. I'm packing one 24/7!
One more thing to note. Somehow, my Ranger firesteel was broken when I received my shipment. Ron sent me another one as soon as I notified him of the problem. This is a company that understands the importance of good customer service.
Thanks Ron!
